What is Project Connect?

Project Connect is a policy that Barnsley College have as a guideline on how to be a good student, a successful student,
and just an all-around nice person. There are five themes involved
in this project, and they all focus around being a
kind, supportive, aspirational, respectful
person.

The first theme in these projects is Respect. It is one of the most important

out of all of the themes, and teaches students to treat others as they
would like to be treated. To represent this theme, my group and
I chose to take a picture of Marvellous and myself shaking hands.

The second theme is Responsibility. It teaches
the students that they are no longer in high
school where their learning is handed to them,
they have to become young adults and be
responsible for their own progress. They also
have to make their own way into College,
make sure they have their badge,
balance their free time with work.
                     To represent this theme,
               my group and I chose
                          to take a group selfie
 showing our College badges.

Responsibility.

The third theme is Purpose. It is there to make sure the students know what they are aiming for and why they are here. For example, my purpose is to get either a merit or distinction grade in all the units on my course. To represent this particular theme, I decided to take a picture of the back of the main school building. My purpose is to do well here and enjoy my time here, so the picture is very fitting.

The fourth theme is Self Development. This is in place to make sure students are aiming to constantly improve their skills and get better at what they do on their course and in life in general. By developing their personality and skill sets, they are setting themselves up for future life. This includes getting a job, learning to drive, travelling, getting an apprenticeship, attending university and finding their career path. To represent this theme, our group chose to re - create Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution in our own way to show development in people.

The fifth and final theme is Consistency. It is there to remind students that they must be consistent in their work, rather than fluctuating between a strong pass and a fail grade throughout projects. They need to maintain the same level of effort all the way through their projects, to make sure they are getting the grades they both want and need to move on in the future. To represent this theme, my group and I decided to show consistency by all taking a picture whilst doing the same pose.
