Firstly, I opened a new Photoshop document titled 'Advert 1'. I made it so that it was A4 size, 210mm by 297mm, and set the resolution to 300. I also set the colour settings to CMYK, as I will be printing this too. I opened one photograph that I had taken as a smart object, and placed it at the top of the page.
I then used the rectangular marquee tool to draw thin lines to use as a border for my pictures. I colour filled them black.
After that, I opened my second image as a smart object. I used the transform command to make it slightly smaller, and then placed it in the left hand corner just beneath the first image.
I then duplicated the shapes I had made before to create a border for the rest of the images. I also added my third image.
Next, I added my third image.
I then added another black border around my images, and colour filled the bottom section black.
After this, I used a cursive font to type the name of the product I'm advertising. I then used a more sophisticated, sans serif typeface to type my slogan, as I wanted it to compliment the other one and create a font family.
As a final touch, I used a paint splat brush type that I downloaded from brusheezy on the bottom part of my advertisement. I made it the colour purple, to match the colours of the eyeshadow palette. After completing the production of the advertisement, I then saved the file as a JPEG and opened it as a smart object on the file that I created my front cover on.
