Project Connect - Second Poster
After making my first project connect poster, I decided that it would be a nice idea to make more posters which represent the five principles individually. The first one I chose was self development, which is all about learning new skills and growing as a person. To represent this, I downloaded a tree brush from Brusheezy, as the growing branches of a tree show growth and improvement.
I chose to use the gradient tool to make the background a faded lilac. The colour purple is appropriate for this poster, because purple contains some of the same elements as the colour blue in the sense that it is a strong demanding colour, but also promotes ambition. This ties in with the theme of my poster, as I focused on self development. It is important to have ambition in order to develop yourself into a better person, so the gentle colour softly promotes the idea of being ambitious.
Also, the purple colour is also a favourite colour of 14% of the human population according to research done by Joe Hallock in 2003, with the majority of that 14% being young people, so my poster will appeal to my audience; college students.
Purple is also a complimentary colour to green, as pointed out by Wolfgang Von Goethe in 1810. This means that I have used a complimentary colour scheme by using green and purple together.
Plus, the colour green represents growth, life and nature; which ties in nicely with the theme of my poster. As said by Wolfgang Von Goethe, green is a very useful colour; both the green and purple combined strongly impose a sense of improvement and personal growth in people when they look at it, making it suitable for its purpose.
When writing down the quote by Bryant McGill that I wanted to use for my poster, I decided I wanted to emphasise on the word "biggest" in order to grab my audience's attention and make them really think about the meaning of the quote. I did this by swapping from my decorative, cursive, serif font to a simple sans serif font. I made this typeface bigger after typing the word, making it stand out from the text even more. I also used a cursive, thin font to write Bryant's name with, in order to make it look more like it is a handwritten signature.
