Project Connect - Third Poster

Project Connect - Third Poster

To start with, I chose to use a brush that looks like waves in an ocean as my background for the poster. This is because the theme of my poster is consistency, and consistency makes me think of the way water always flows and the tide always comes in without fail; water symbolically represents the consistent way life flows.
Also, I used a watercolour splatter brush to create a space in the middle of my poster to put my quote on. I believe this makes the text stand out more from my background, making it more eye grabbing to passers by. I downloaded both brush types from Brusheezy, and added them to photoshop to use.
I decided to use blue as my main colour due to the fact that it is a mandatory and instructional colour. Therefore, the monochromatic colour scheme will subliminally advise people to be consistent with their work. Plus, according to research done by Joe Hallock in 2003, blue is the favourite colour of everyone across all age groups. Therefore, my poster appeals to all age groups, including my target audience which is college students.
Plus, to emphasise on the most important parts of my quote, I have included three different typefaces which compliment each other. This means they form a font family. I used a simple sans serif font first, as sans serif fonts are suitable for a younger audience, so it will grab the student's attention. I then changed to a cursive, decorative serif font when typing the word 'consistency', and made it larger than the rest of the text to emphasise on it's importance. Lastly, I swapped back to another sans serif font, but typed the last part of the quote in italics to make the reader think about the meaning of that specific section and express it's significance to do with the message behind the quote.
