Firstly, I opened a new Photoshop document titled 'Front and Back Cover'. I made it A3 size with the measurements of 297mm by 420mm, and made sure the resolution was set to 300 and the colour settings set to CMYK. This is because the CMYK setting is the best one for printing, and I will need to print off my FMP once it is completed. After this, I then opened my photograph of choice as a smart object, and placed it where I need it to be on the page.
After this, I used my chosen font that I downloaded from Dafont (Bodoni XT) to create the title of my magazine. I used the type tool to type it, made it big enough to fit along the top of my magazine cover, and placed it just above my head.
I then wrote the title of my first article in the same font and placed it on the right hand side of the image. I also wrote an interesting tagline to go beneath it, in order to catch the reader's attention.
After this, to make the tagline stand out more, I used the rectangular marquee tool to draw two thin rectangle shapes and colour fill them in my chosen shade of green. I then pressed CTRL T to transform the shape by distorting it, making the shape a parallelogram. I placed this behind my text, and wrote the title of my other article.
I then typed an interesting tagline for my second article. To make this and the title stand out more, I used the rectangular marquee tool and transform commands to make them shaped like parallelograms.
Next, I opened up Google images. I downloaded an image of a bar-code, opened it as a smart object on Photoshop and used the transform command to make it slightly bigger. I then placed it in the bottom left hand corner of the page.
Finally, I used the elliptical marquee tool and the shift key to create a circle, and then colour filled it in the pink shade of my choosing. I then typed '£1' and placed it on the circle.
