To begin with, I opened a new Photoshop document to create my second advertisement on. I set the measurements to 210mm by 297mm, with the resolution at 300 and the colours set to CMYK.
I then added the first image I had taken of the makeup palette I have chosen to advertise.
After that, I added the second image of the palette, which contains a makeup brush too.
The third image I added is a picture of the front of the palette while it is closed, so that you can see the name of the palette on the top of the case. The makeup brush is also in this image.
I then used the rectangular marquee tool to draw a rectangle, and colour fill it black. This is where I will type the name of the palette.
I then added the fifth photo, which is another close up of the colours featured in the palette.
Next, I used the rectangular marquee tool again to create lines as borders to go around my images.
I then wrote the title of the makeup palette at the top of the page, in a white cursive font.
After this, I saved the advert as a JPEG file, and opened another new Photoshop document. I opened the advert as a smart object on the new document, and colour filled the space next to it in pink.
After viewing how the other side looked with a pink background, I decided to change it to a light grey background because it looked better.
I then opened an image I had previously taken of myself as a smart object, enlarged it and placed it just beneath my contents page. I also used the rectangular marquee tool to draw a large rectangle, before colour filling it purple and placing it at the top of the page to use as a background for the title of the page. I then wrote 'contents' in my chosen font (BodoniXT) and edited it so that its in italics.
Furthermore, I did not want to include the background, so I used the quick selection tool to select the part of the image I was in, and CTRL C CTRL V to cut away the background. I also used the blur tool to make the edges look much smoother.
To add a more 3D effect to the page, I added a drop shadow to the image of myself.
I then typed out a smaller subheading 'in this issue...' so that I could list which articles would be included in my magazine.
To match the title, I used the rectangular marquee tool and the colour fill tool to create another decorative purple rectangle to place behind my subtitle.
After this, I added the name of my first article plus an interesting tagline including a rhetorical question to interest the reader. I used a rhetorical question because they are very persuasive and tend to interest a reader quicker than a simpler sentence.
I then wrote a short description of my first article beneath the title of it, and used the elliptical marquee tool and colour fill tool to create a black bullet point. Furthermore, I added the name of my second article.
To finish off the last part of the text, I described the article briefly and added another bullet point.
To finish this page off, I added one of my images of the NYX Earth palette as a smart object.
Finally, I cut away the background on the photo of the earth palette using the quick selection tool, transformed it so that it was rotated onto its side and placed it in the bottom left corner of that page.
