To begin with, I opened a new Photoshop document titled 'Article 2'. I made the measurements 420mm by 297mm, so that the page would be A3 size and landscape. Also, I set the resolution to 300 and the colour settings to CMYK, as these settings are ideal for printing. I used the rectangular marquee tool to draw a thin line down the centre of the page and colour fill it black, so that I would know where to finish the first side and begin the second.

Next, I used my chosen font, BodoniXT, to write the title of my article across the top of the page. I edited the text so that it is in italics for effect, and set it to the size 72pt. I also added a grey background to my article in order to make the colours I use later on stand out.
After this, I copy and pasted the beginning of my article from Words onto Photoshop. I wrote it on Word first so that I could easily spell check and proofread my work, and I converted the typeface to Segoe UI Symbol once I had copied it over to Photoshop. Plus, I opened my first image as a smart object and placed it next to the text, before using the rectangular marquee tool to draw a rectangle for decoration behind the image. I colour filled it my chosen colour of green.
I then copy and pasted more of my article onto the page from word, just beneath where I had put the first lot of text. I also opened two more of my images as smart objects and moved them onto the page, using the rectangular marquee tool to decorate them both with purple rectangles.
Next, I copy and pasted the remainder of my article that would fit on the left side, and added my fourth image as a smart object. I also added another green decorative rectangle using the rectangular marquee tool.
Furthermore, I then copy and pasted more of my article onto the right hand side, and opened my fifth image as a smart object. I then used the rectangular marquee tool to draw another decorative rectangle behind my image and colour fill it purple. I also drew a rectangle around my text on the lefthand side and used the gradient tool to place a green gradient beneath
Plus, I added another image on as a smart object and drew another green rectangle with the rectangular marquee tool. The theme I'm going for with this article is grey backgrounds with decorative green and purple rectangles all around the page, underneath photographs and text.
I then added my last two images as smart objects, with more purple and green decorative rectangles placed behind them.

To finish off this double page spread, I added another colour gradient beneath my text on the right side this time. I used purple, and then drew a purple rectangle beneath my title with the rectangular marquee tool to make it stand out more. Also, at this point was when I realised that my article was too long to fit onto two pages, so I would have to do another double page spread for the rest of it.
To start on the second half of my article, I opened a new document with the measurements at 420mm by 297mm, the resolution at 300 and the colour set to CMYK. I drew a line down the centre with the rectangular marquee tool, and colour filled the first half grey. Then I opened my ninth image as a smart object and placed it in the top left hand corner.
Furthermore, I added a decorative purple rectangle beneath my image using the rectangular marquee tool and copy and pasted some of my article next to it.
Next, I added my next two photographs as smart objects and placed them at opposite sides from each other on the page. I added more of my article afterwards, and added decorative rectangles using the rectangular marquee tool.
At this point, I decided that I did not like the way the page looked, as I was not a fan of the way I had organised the pictures so they were on opposite sides from one another. I moved them all so that they were on the left hand side, and moved the text to sit next to it. I also used the rectangular marquee tool to draw a box around the text, and add a purple gradient to it. Plus, I opened one of my final images as a smart object and placed it quite large at the bottom of the page, using a purple background for it.

After this, I decided I didn't like the dark purple background, so I took it away and made my image larger.
To add a bit of decoration to this image, I used the elliptical marquee tool to draw a large purple oval to sit underneath the image.
Next, I added a short subheading to put above my image, saying 'The Final Look'. This is showing how the persons makeup should look by the end of the tutorial.
Furthermore, for the second half of the page I chose to copy and paste my conclusion to my article on the right hand side. I also added another image of the finished look, and used the rectangular marquee tool to draw a decorative green rectangle behind it. Adding to this, I decided to use the elliptical marquee tool to draw a semi circle and colour fill it with a purple gradient, and placed it beneath my text for decoration.
After this, as a last minute addition, I decided to add a list of all the makeup products I used on my face, so that if anyone wanted to purchase those items to use they knew the names of them. Also, I realised at this stage that there was a blank space in the top right hand corner and I needed to fill it with something to make it look more interesting.
To be able to add more decoration to my page, I brought in three of the products i had used at home to create this look. I then borrowed a DSLR camera from the media stock room, and used it to take high resolution pictures of three of the products. I added two of them to the page, and used the quick selection tool to cut away the background.
Finally, I added my last image as a smart object and cut away the background using the quick selection tool. I then arranged them so that the two smaller products were at either side of the larger product in the middle.
